2011 United Nations Public Service Awards Programme

— archivado en: ,

United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN)

The United Nations Public Service Awards are the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. Through an annual competition, the United Nations Public Service Awards promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service.

This year a new category has been jointly established by the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women - UNIFEM (part of UN Women), to recognize civil servants around the world who have demonstrated exemplary contributions towards delivering services for women. Collecting, analyzing, rewarding and disseminating information about good practices in this area can be an important contribution towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The Awards for 2011 will be given in the following five categories:

1. Improving transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in the public service

2. Improving the delivery of services

3. Fostering participation in policy-making decisions through innovative mechanisms

4. Advancing knowledge management in government

5. Promoting gender sensitive public service delivery
